Guidance to get the best from your Nanolocks Hair Extensions

IMMEDIATE AFTERCARE
- Do not wash hair for at least 48 hours after hair extension application

PRE-WASH
- Before washing hair, brush gently with a Nanolocks hair extension brush only (available here)
- De-tangle the ends, then brush from the ends first, working your way up
- Make sure that your hair extensions have been separated at the root area
- Run fingers through your hair to avoid bonds sticking together
- Each extension strand has been individually bonded/clamped, and must not be altered

WASHING HAIR
- NEVER wash hair extensions over a bath, EVER!
- Wash hair extensions at least once a week to prevent a build up of natural oils on the scalp area
- Always wash hair in a downward motion, with head tipped backward
- Stroke shampoo gently from root to tip
- Do not rub or massage the beads/bonds/tapes as this will cause matting
- It is strongly recommended to advise your hairdresser of this, as they may not be familiar with how to wash extensions. Do not allow your hair to be “scrubbed” as this may damage your extensions.

SHAMPOO
- Nanolocks recommends using sulphate and paraben-free shampoo to avoid loosening extensions
- Nanolocks also recommend using moisturizing shampoos

CONDITIONERS
- Use ‘Leave-In’ conditioners from mid-length to ends only
- Do not apply to the root area
- Avoid bead/bond/tape areas near the scalp
- Do not use heavy protein or silicone-based conditioners as they may cause hair to become tangled, and/or extension slippage
- Nanolocks recommend using moisturizing conditioners
- A conditioning mask can also be used once a week
- Use ‘Leave-In’ conditioners from mid-length to ends only

RINSING & DRYING
- After washing and conditioning, rinse cold water over your extensions to close cuticles
- Wrap a towel around hair and pat gently to remove excess water
- Always use heat protection on your mid-lengths to ends, and then dry as normal

BRUSHING
- ONLY use a Nanolocks hair extension brush to avoid brushing out extensions
- ALWAYS hold extensions whilst brushing to avoid placing tension on the roots
- NEVER backcomb the roots area

CARE AT NIGHT / SWIMMING
- Always tie hair up and secure with a covered band before sleeping
- NEVER sleep on wet/damp extensions as this will cause extensions to become tangled
- Always dry hair thoroughly

STRAIGHTENERS, CURLERS & HOT BRUSHES
- Overuse of heating appliances may damage extensions
- Electric heating appliances may be used from mid-lengths to ends

NEVER use heating appliances near the root area
- Direct heat will soften and distort the beads/bonds/tapes

COLOURING
- Nanolocks cannot be held responsible for environmental factors that may alter the colour of your extensions
- E.g. permanent colours, toners (including relevant shampoos), chlorine from swimming pools etc.
- Any colouring of extensions, subsequent to application, is taken at each client’s own risk

LIFESPAN & REMOVAL

- Aftercare Success
- Dependent on following daily routine outlined above
- Normal to lose 15-20 extensions over the lifespan of each application
- Normal to have some shedding of extensions given the temporary nature
- Aftercare queries must be communicated to Nanolocks within 2 weeks of application date
- Removal
